Chris Sommerich
Chris Sommerich was named NHC executive director effective Jan. 1, 2011. He joined the council as development director in November 2004. He has bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where as a graduate assistant he served as undergraduate advisor and teaching assistant in the political science department. In 2007, Chris completed his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification, which emphasizes the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct in fundraising. He has taken a leadership role among professional fundraisers in Nebraska, serving on the board of directors for the Nebraska Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and as its president. During his tenure, AFP-Nebraska hosted the regional Mid-America Conference on fundraising in Omaha. He came to the NHC after four years of managing annual giving programs as development associate for Audubon Nebraska. Chris has played bass guitar in Lincoln and Omaha-based bands off and on over the past 15 years, and lives in Lincoln with his wife, Vicki, and two sons, Eli and Benjamin.
