Heather Thomas

Heather ThomasHeather Thomas joined the council staff as development officer in April 2011. Her responsibilities include working with council and foundation board members and others to raise funds to support NHC’s programs through gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. She has a strong background in fundraising in the arts and humanities. She graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., with an interdisciplinary major in Russian studies, coursework which blended Russian language, literature, art and history. Her development career includes three years as membership coordinator at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and a total of 10 years in development at the University of Virginia, including six years as the first director of development for the University’s School of Architecture and four years as director of development for Historic Preservation. Since moving to Lincoln in 2006, Heather worked part time as education director and grants coordinator for the Haydon Art Center. She currently serves as a trustee of the Sheldon Art Association of the Sheldon Museum of Art and is active on the education committee.
